In-Depth Look at the DRDT |
Hi all, we thought you might like a look at an external evaluation of our project which we commissioned earlier this year and has just been completed. Some of you will have been contacted and interviewed for it and we thought you'd all like to see the final product.
This evaluation report delves deeply into the management of the project. A separate Impact Evaluation is just about to be commissioned – we'll let you know more soon.
One of the things highlighted by the evaluation was a perceived lack of "partnership" activity. We know it's easy for you to contact either Kye or myself when you have digital queries but we may not be around forever (in fact, the end of September is all we have funding for at the moment). I'm sure most of you realise we've actually undertaken training with a large number of you and most of you have skills that could be shared with the rest of the group even if you don't realise it yet.
For instance:
- All the visitor displays, including those utilising touch-screens, we've helped you set up use exactly the same content management system as almost all the website we've helped you with.
- Huge numbers of you have undertaken digitisation of images held within your collections and many of you are using scanners with very similar capabilities.
- At least a handful of you regularly undertake the collection of oral history. Editing audio is easy - I know a number of you have learned to use Audacity. A number of you even have mp3s available for download and I know a few more who will shortly.
To facilitate a little more networking and to make it easier for you to ask everybody at once we've set up an email group which will mean typing one email and sending it to one address will mean your query or new will reach all the project partners. It'll come from noreply@googlegroups.com. Please look out for it over the next couple of weeks. It will include a little generic information about needing Google accounts to access the web page – don't worry about this at it's email based it doesn't matter and is not required – all requests will land in your inbox. If, for some reason, you wish to unsubscribe that option will be open to you too.
